Tulsa police officers arrested a woman Sunday who'd led them on a short chase after driving into two patrol cars.
Officers were called to OSU Medical Center in downtown Tulsa around 3:30 a.m. for a woman causing a disturbance.
Shawnna Owens was in her car on their property being belligerent with OSU security. When officers arrived, Owens locked the doors in her car and started yelling at them. Looking in the windows, officers could see a case of pre-mixed Margarita beverages on the floorboard.
When officers told her she was being detained and she needed to step out of the car, Owens rammed two police cars and fled the scene leading Officers on a chase.
The short pursuit maxed out at 60 mph on Highway 75 and eventually ended around 2500 South Highway 75 when Owens decided to pull over.
She was taken into custody without incident, until a short time later when she started to become hostile, spitting at and kicking officers.
Officers used their WRAP system and were able to safely transport her to the Tulsa County Jail where she was booked in.
Owens is a tribal member and falls under the McGirt ruling, so she will either be prosecuted in Tribal Court or Federal Court.
