Tulsa Police: 400+ guns stolen so far in 2024

The Tulsa Police Department is tracking the number of stolen guns in the city in 2024, which has climbed over 400 as of mid-October.

From Jan. 1 to Oct. 15, there have been 403 guns reported stolen in the city of Tulsa, with the majority of those being stolen out of vehicles. That amounts to about 1.4 guns stolen each day.

The thieves taking these guns out of vehicles aren't only smashing windows overnight outside victims' homes. They're easily opening unlocked doors, reaching through open windows, and breaking into cars in the daytime outside workplaces, restaurants and shopping centers.

This heat map shows hot spots for gun thefts throughout the city in the 335 total incidents that have been reported:

Tulsa Police recommends taking your firearms with you inside your homes overnight, and getting a secure lock box inside your vehicle for when you have to leave your gun in your car for any reason.
