Scam Alert: Caller pretending to be Tulsa Police Detective

We've received multiple reports recently about a phone scam happening in the Tulsa area where a caller is pretending to be a Tulsa Police Detective.

In the most recent report, the caller has left a voicemail claiming to be Detective Eric Spradlin with our Detective Division. The caller has used some sort of technology to manipulate their voice/voicemail into sounding like the real Eric Spradlin, who is an actual Sergeant in Detective Division.

The scammers are doing their research with this one and people are more likely to be victimized if they don’t do a little research into it.

Our Detectives often call people on the phone for information; however, the Tulsa Police Department WILL NEVER ask for money from you over the phone. If someone calls claiming to be the Tulsa Police Department and asks for money, hang up. It is a scam.

If you receive a call from the Tulsa Police Department and want to verify the caller’s authenticity, get as many details as possible about the caller and contact us at our non-emergency number 918-596-9222.

We've seen similar reports of this scam on Reddit, and we've included a screen capture and a link to the most recent post about it: https://bit.ly/3SlFCKD
