Officers take part in birthday celebration for Tulsa boy fighting cancer

The Tulsa Police Department was one of a handful of agencies to participate in a birthday celebration on Tuesday for a boy fighting cancer.

Officers answered the call to attend the celebration for 8-year-old Hayes Ruch's birthday. Hayes is currently battling T-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, and because of that, he can't have an in-person birthday party this year. His actual birthday isn't until Saturday, but he'll be receiving treatment then, so he's celebrating early.

Dozens of people drove by in the birthday parade, including many first responders. Many Tulsa police officers and firefighters took part, along with other agencies including Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Rescue, EMSA, Catoosa Police, Rogers County Sheriff's Office, Jeepers Anonymous of Oklahoma, Burn Out 66 Foundation, and Rolling Hills Fire Department.
