Last weekend, Tulsa Police Officer Grace Hobbs was awarded the Blue Valor Award at the annual Smoke & Guns event at the BOK Center.

In August of 2023, Officer Hobbs was training a rookie on her first day in the field. While conducting a seemingly routine traffic stop, the suspect was being evasive and lied about his identity.

When Hobbs tried to detain him, he became combative and started fighting with Hobbs. The suspect grabbed a pistol in his waistband and fired a round off. Officer Hobbs was shot in the foot and continued to fight with the suspect, the Officer In Training intervened by discharging her firearm striking the suspect.

After getting the suspect in custody, Hobbs, her rookie, and responding Officers rendered first aid to the suspect.

Smoke & Guns is an annual MMA and Boxing charity event where some of the toughest Firefighters and Law Enforcement Officers across the country compete. Proceeds from the event benefit Special Olympics Oklahoma, Oklahoma Firefighters Burn Camp and the Folds of Honor.
