Welcome to the Tulsa Police Department's monthly newsletter! We've had an active beginning of Spring with a lot of great engagements with our community. Let's take a look at the last month as we make our way into April.
Downtown Chat with a Cop
Our brand new TPD Connect location is now open for walk-in service at 416 S. Main!
Swing by Monday through Friday from 11:00 to 1:00 to chat with our friendly Officers about downtown issues, file reports, or just get the scoop on local resources. It's your chance to meet the folks who keep downtown safe and sound.
We're stoked to connect with you and make downtown an even better place to be!
Spotlight on new technology at 911 Dispatch
Earlier this year, Public Safety Communications, commonly called 911 Dispatch, started using the new Prepared 911 system.
News On 6 put together a story highlighting a recent incident that showcased a dispatcher and how they helped locate a missing teen.
Coloring with a Cop
We had a great time earlier this month at our Coloring with a Cop event at the McDonald's near 129th and I-44!
Kids at the event received a free happy meal, stickers and necklaces -- and they even got the chance to meet Chief Larsen! Events like these are a great way to get to know the Officers who work in the area and ask questions about the department!

March-Mallow Madness
Earlier this month, Officer Harmon dropped off 120 Squishmallows for Tulsa Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA)! Many organizations and individuals in the community are continuing to donate throughout the month to help children in court who've come from abusive or neglected situations.
Last year, they collected over 700 Squishmallows, and this year they're trying to collect more than 850!
For more information about the drive and how to donate, visit https://secure.givelively.org/donate/tulsa-casa-inc or check out the Tulsa CASA Facebook page.

Gilcrease Division
To celebrate the changing season, Officers were invited to attend an “Arts in the Spring” Festival, in partnership with the City of Tulsa Municipal Courts, the Tulsa City-County Library, Grand Mental Health, and 918 Riderz Motorcycle Club.
The event was hosted by Gibbs Shopping Center in North Tulsa, where visitors gathered to enjoy music, inflatables, free books, and a live mural painting in progress. It was a beautiful day to visit with each other, engage in meaningful conversations, and discuss future community-focused opportunities.
April will be a busy month for us. I look forward to seeing our Officers at the many events we have planned and am grateful, as always, for their assistance in helping the C.O.R.E Unit fulfill its mission to continue bridging the gap between law enforcement and the community.

Mingo Valley Division
This month we joined Dolores Huerta Elementary for Read Across America, proving that even in uniform, we still love a good story time. It’s always a joy to encourage young minds and show that reading can take you anywhere
We ended the month at Parkview Baptist Church, speaking at their monthly safety meeting. We answered questions, shared tips, and had great conversations about keeping public spaces welcoming and secure.
Looking ahead to April, we’re excited for another Coloring with a Cop event and plenty of other fun opportunities to connect with the community.

Riverside Division
We're looking forward to another great Spring month in April with some unique chances for Riverside Division Officers to hang out with the community.
People will have a chance to come out to the Chick-Fil-A location at Tulsa Hills on April 17 from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. to enjoy a meal and chat with the Officers that work in the area.
We think this will be a great opportunity to build on as the weather warms up and we inch closer to summertime activities!

Tulsa Police Child Crisis Unit
The Tulsa Police Child Crisis Unit investigates more than 1,100 cases each year, investigating cases including Child Sexual Abuse for 13 and Under, Child Physical Abuse, and Child Deaths.
Housed within the Child Advocacy Network (CAN), the unit is made up of one Lieutenant and six Detectives. The partnership between the Child Crisis Unit and CAN helps provide the best outcomes possible to victims.
We spoke with Lt. Pierce and Det. Sallee about their experiences working in the unit.
