A man is in the hospital after allegedly shooting and killing a person at two different locations on Tuesday.
Tulsa police officers responded to shooting calls at both Rudisill Library and a nearby QuikTrip near Pine and Peoria around 9:40 a.m. on Tuesday.
Homicide detectives learned 61-year-old Carlton Gilford first went to the library, walked up behind a man sitting at a desk and shot him in the back of his head. The victim later died after being taken to the hospital.
Gilford is then believed to have left the library and gone to the QuikTrip where he shot another man in the back of his head, then shot him again when he hit the ground. Witnesses said Gilford fired at least one more time into the store but didn't hit anyone else. The victim inside the store died at the scene.
When officers arrived at the gas station, Gilford admitted to shooting two people. As of Wednesday morning he's recovering in the hospital due to what's believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
This is an ongoing investigation and the Tulsa Police Department will provide more information as it becomes available.
