First Citizens Police Academy of 2025 to begin in February

Interested in learning about the Tulsa Police Department? Our next Citizens Police Academy starts in just over a month on February 18th, 2025! Applications are now being accepted!

The classes will meet every Tuesday evening for 13 consecutive Tuesday nights concluding with graduation on May 13, 2025. Classes are from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., and will meet at the Tulsa Police Training Division located at 6066 E. 66th St. N.

The course is designed to introduce citizens to the various units and divisions that encompass the Tulsa Police Department. Relevant topics such as the use of force, firearms training, pursuit driving, and criminal and narcotic investigations are part of the curriculum.

The CPA is taught by veteran Tulsa Police Officers who will discuss the challenges of policing a large, diverse, and urban center. It provides an opportunity for citizens to interact with Officers in an educational environment to foster the understanding and mutual respect that is necessary to build a safer community for all.

The course is free of charge to citizens who live, work or attend school in Tulsa. Some of the classes feature hands on learning but the course is not physically taxing.

Due to the sensitive nature of portions of the curriculum, a criminal background check is part of application process. There is no law enforcement authority or law enforcement credentials conveyed to any citizen who completes the program. It is adult education designed not only to teach but to make the process fun and interesting.

Applications are available online at: https://www.tulsapolice.org/citizens-police-academy

You can also email Mike Ward at mrward@cityoftulsa.org or Lt. Eric Sokoloski at ehsokoloski@cityoftulsa.org for an application.

What a great initiative to bridge the gap between citizens and law enforcement! This could really help build trust in the community. Snake game is a classic video game concept that has been popular for decades. In the game, players control a snake that grows in length as it eats food items placed on the game board.
