DOMESTIC STANGULATION
The Tulsa Police Department has implemented the Domestic Strangulation Initiative to better serve our community in an attempt to reduce violence and possibly reduce domestic homicides.
OVERVIEW & RESOURCES
The Tulsa Police Department recognizes the seriousness of domestic strangulation for the following reasons:

-
Non-Fatal Strangulation can lead to strokes, brain injury, and possible death.
-
Strangulation in domestic violence is usually an indication of an escalation of violence between domestic partners.
Non-fatal strangulation is known to be a significant risk factor for intimate partner homicide (IPH) and attempted homicide of women.
