On March 29, 1989 the 17-month-old victim and her mother were found dead inside their burning apartment at Woodcreek Apartment complex located at 208 N. 112th E. avenue #315. The victim's mother Carol Wald was at first believed that she died from smoke inhalation. It was later determined that she died from strangulation.
